It's hard to believe that HKG is now in its third stage of the vaccine pass and that dine-in regulations have somewhat eased. What's even harder to believe is how some of our favourite places to eat have had to close up shop or make unrecognisable changes to survive. Don't be fooled because the Not-So Little Mario's has grown to its NEW charming location (📍Ma Wan, SHOP 1B, LEVEL 2, BEACH COMMERCIAL COMPLEX). My family and I had no idea that we had stumbled upon their official launch day. We were pleased with the decor and inviting atmosphere as it reminded us of a good ol' family restaurant: spacious, colourful and activities for all ages to win prizes (e.g. competitions, face painting). An alfresco dining experience would have been an option (Hello? Seaview, amiright?!) but since it was raining, we were lucky to have been seated at a well-ventilated, peaceful and comfortable booth. Everyone around us was all smiles.
We ordered a few dishes to share, all of which were well-seasoned and served hot. If you love cheese, try the Mozarella Sticks and for creamy goodness, try the Truffle Carbonara Spaghetti. Of course, you can't go wrong with curry, which goes amazing with the garlic naan, and if you order this for takeaway, better have some with your homecooked rice (Yes, takeaway orders is an option ... Wahoo!!!😋)
Overall, the experience here was pleasant and was topped off from the moment we stepped in and were greeted by the friendly staff at the door to the especially warm welcome by Mary/Marie and Lenora (absolute pleasure chatting with you)🙏.
My family and I couldn't have asked for a more nostalgic (food)trip down memory lane with intriguing takes to Italian and Indian favourites. Talk about an unexpected power 🆙 to start a Father's Day / Birthday weekend celebration!👨👩👧👦
