I've been seeing online that Mansons Lot serves really good quality coffe in Wanchai, hence I decided to visit this place with my friend for breakfast.First impressions were a bit disappointing -- I went at 10:15am, and the staff at the cashier was not particularly friendly. There was no greeting of any sort, and he just handed me the menu without saying anything. I think he was still feeling sleepy. The air ventilation could have been better -- I was expecting a cooler environment. It was not

First impressions were a bit disappointing -- I went at 10:15am, and the staff at the cashier was not particularly friendly. There was no greeting of any sort, and he just handed me the menu without saying anything. I think he was still feeling sleepy. The air ventilation could have been better -- I was expecting a cooler environment. It was not hot, but I would have preferred more air-con to feel less "sticky" from the heat outside.
I had planned to order an Eggs Benedict Florentine, because I really loved spinach. However, I saw by chance that another customer had ordered Eggs Benedict Lak, and I saw spinach in there as well. The staff told me that the difference was extra slices of salmon, and that for the Eggs Benedict Lak, there would still be spinach. So, I guess you know what I had in the end...
For drinks, I ordered an iced mocha. I asked the staff what they'd recommend, and they did not actually answer my question, but merely explaining the different types of coffee. They did put a bit more emphasis on their mocha because there would be chocolate powder, so I decided to go for their iced mocha. It was a bit expensive ($58), but seeing high reviews about this coffee shop, I decided to give it a go. First sip of the drink and I already felt like I was in heaven! The sweet fragrance of the chocolate with the coffee was pure bliss. I could tell they used really good quality chocolate.
Alas, good things never last! The air ventilation became stranger and stranger, and I could smell the smell of toilet midway our meal.
Things got worse right at the very end. When my friend and I decided to pay and leave, there was a sudden strong waft of smell from sewage pipes -- we literally smelled crap in the restaurant!!! Even the staff hurried to open their door to clear the air. It was, unfortunately, a horrendous ending to our hangout at Mansons Lot...
