With a party of four, we went for lunch at Fofo, and it was such a good experience that we'll definitely be back.We all had the brunch menu, which consists of a selection of appetizers, one tapa per person, a paella that two people are sharing, and a chocolate dessert. It was a bit odd that the waiter started out by asking us if we wanted some cava (sparkly) to start (which we did) because the menu actually included a glass of cava per person - so we had two. With a party of four, we went for lunch at Fofo, and it was such a good experience that we'll definitely be back.
We all had the brunch menu, which consists of a selection of appetizers, one tapa per person, a paella that two people are sharing, and a chocolate dessert. It was a bit odd that the waiter started out by asking us if we wanted some cava (sparkly) to start (which we did) because the menu actually included a glass of cava per person - so we had two. The cava came with a kind of bruschetta, just that it was not tomatoes but grated green papaya, maybe with a little tomato, and some olives on the side, which were both pretty good.
All of the appetizers were excellent; bite-size pieces of different things, all beautifully presented and thoughtfully combined. The one I liked least were the ham croquettes, simply because they were a bit bland in comparison to the other, somewhat more color- ad flavorful things. For tapas, we had the slow-cooked octopus, which was delicious, combined with potatoes; the lamb loin, which was tender and juicy; the marinated beef skewers accompanied by some really nice hummus; and pork with black truffles - wonderful stuff! We were actually quite full when the paella came. We had picked the seafood and the black squid ink paellas; both were very tasty, but both had decidedly too few things inside. On top of both were a few mussels and a dollop of aioli mayonnaise, and in there a handful of pieces of bell pepper, and I even found an occasional bit of squid, but overall, there was not enough *in* the paella to make it really exciting.
Unfortunately, the dessert included in the menu could not be substituted by another one. It was churro, again, for share among two persons; sticks of fried dough that you dip in melted chocolate, and some very good vanilla ice cream on the side. Nice, but not too exciting. I ordered the yuzu mousse in addition, and it was simply delicious, really flavorful and smooth and refreshing.
The wine selection on the menu was good; quite varied, and lots to choose from. Even our wine connoisseur was satisfied.

The place itself is beautiful - on the 20th floor, the restaurant overlooks part of Central and onto the mountains, toward HK Park, so there's lots to look at outside. Inside, the decoration looks more Scandinavian due to the white furnishings. Combined with an eager use of air condition, it felt cold in more than one regard (and no, they did not turn down the air con when we asked for it). The restaurant filled up rather quickly, and while the music was initially rather loud, in the end the noise by customers completely drowned out the music. It was by no means noisy, though.
The restaurant also has a terrace, one floor up, but they only open it at 6pm, and we were not allowed to sit out there with drinks after our meal. We were allowed to go there to smoke (and take pictures), but they would not offer service there.

Overall, we all liked the food, which was quite wonderful (both in terms of taste and presentation); the selection, and the location.
We disliked the overuse of air conditioning, and we found that the waiter should have told us that one glass of sparkly was included rather than letting us have two. Staff was otherwise nice and helpful, though, and not overbearing.
Foie gras, ham w/ tomato bread, smoked salmon. Yum!

題外話/補充資料: No lunch menu on Saturdays; it's either a la carte or brunch. Terrace only opens at 6pm.
