Pirata comes back with their latest concept, The Pizza Project on Peel Street. Happy to see that similarly to Pici, they do a tasting menu for $180pp where you can sample each category of dishes. For 2pax, this included 1 antipasti, 1 gnocco fritto, 2 pizzas and 1 dessert. Needless to say, we left as two happy campers with very full bellies. Tuna Carpaccio A great start to the meal. A great start to the meal. The raw tuna was served with cherry tomatoes, shallots, capers, greens and a bright citrus dressing. All the flavours worked well together, definitely recommend!

Didn't know what this was going into it, but I could only describe it as a piece of thick hollow fried dough. Didn't enjoy it very much as it was hard as a rock (struggled to stab it with a fork and knife) and the amount of truffle was quite small so I didn't think it added much to the dough. Would skip this next time.

My favourite pizza of the night! This pizza included toppings of blue cheese, portobello mushroom, parsley salad and fior di latte. The strong flavours of Gorgonzola worked really with with the mushroom and the greens were a refreshing touch. Both pizzas we ordered didn't come with sauce as the base, but this one didn't need it. If anything, I personally prefer pizza crusts that are more chewy and have more of a bite to them. The crust at The Pizza Project doesn't have the same level of chewiness that comes from gluten development on some pizza doughs, but instead is more crisp and holds the toppings well. This is just a personal preference and I'm sure these pizzas are an absolute crowdpleaser

I was really excited to see burrata on a pizza but unfortunately the toppings of pesto, burrata and cherry tomatoes had me wishing there was some kind of sauce as the base. The flavours worked well, but I thought it ate quite boring. The pesto and burrata  was dotted around, so there were patches of bland dough. I thought putting the burrata on the pizza was a waste because you could barely taste it. The cherry tomatoes were a bit big so it was hard to get some with each bite. I drizzled on some chilli oil on top to remedy this and it was delish!

As I had the tiramisu at Pici many times, I went for this dessert instead. I thought it was quite sweet (as white chocolate usually is) but the raspberry jam complimented it nicely. I think dessert lovers would definitely enjoy this, but I still wish I went for the tiramisu though 🙈

Overall, I think it's excellent value for money. The amount of food you get, and the quality is great for $180pp. The pizza dough texture isn't to my taste, but I don't think majority of people would notice. And I'm sure those who are meat eaters would love many of the items on menu too (the carbonara pizza sounds amazing!)
