Dumplings with Chives & Pork (韭菜豬肉餃)


Each dumpling is stuffed full of filling, chives are fragrant and crunchy, perfect with the juicy and savory pork. The ratio of chive to pork is 3:1 but somehow there is still enough pork meat for delicious flavor and tender texture, also some pork fat and tendon pieces that is chewy and flavorful. Dumpling wrapper thickness is perfect with filling, the folded edge is not too thick too.



Dumplings with Black Fungus, Cabbage & Pork (雲耳椰菜豬肉餃)


Savory pork meat again but this time more intense and reminds me of 小籠包 somehow 😆, more pork meat than chive dumpling, well seasoned and paired well with crunchy cabbage. Cabbage is sweet and not chopped too finely so you can feel its crunchiness 😋. No black fungus taste at all but can see and feel it when you eat, cool texture but no taste 😔. Dumpling wrapper is also well proportioned although the folded edge is a bit thick compared to chive dumpling, but enjoyed the chewy dough anyways 🤪


Thankfully, I asked for pickled radish as I remember someone saying it is very good, surprisingly they don’t serve it with the dumplings and need you to request for it 🤔. Each radish is big and crunchy and very sour and acidic, clearly fermented well and perfect with savory dumplings.


On another note, the soup is extremely delicious, they sell it as a bowl for $20 but you get a big bowl when ordering soup dumplings 😋 (not the vegetarian one though because soup is made with pork ribs) it contains no MSG and fully relies on Chinese herbs and vegetables so it doesn’t have a savory umami taste but is still body-warming and cleansing, pork taste is noticeable and gives good flavor.

Braised Mutsutake Seasonal Vegetables in Chicken Broth (上湯松茸時蔬) $32


菜心 is the seasonal vegetable today and it is very crunchy but a bit stale and not hot when arrived. There is also only 1 piece of mutsutake on the whole dish 😬 very disappointing when the whole theme of this dish is the mushrooms 🤣. The 1 tbsp of chicken broth at the bottom has no flavor and also cold, had to warm up my choy sum in the dumpling soup 😰.

💬 Overall, restaurant is quite small with only 5 big round tables, will definitely need to share when it’s peak hours. They also don’t provide water service which is a shame but can order their drinks ranging from herbal drinks to soy milk.
