The Benevolent Thai Seafood

There are many restaurants located in Kowloon City. Golden Wheat is a small Thai restaurant, but there are over a hundred different kinds of dishes available to order on the menu. Thai food are normally hot, but Golden Wheat's Thai food is very special because the owner of the restaurant was an overseas Chinese from Thailand. \r\nShe opened this restaurant in 1990 after she got settled in Hong Kong, therefore the food is very traditional and also suits the taste of Hong Kong people. No wonder so many immigrated customers would come back and have a taste of the restaurant's curry.\r\n

\r\nAll their ingredients are imported from Thailand. The chef quickly made us a few dishes. First is the 'Hot and Sour Shrimp Soup' ($55).\r\n

\r\n\r\nThis is the most famous dish from the restaurant. King prawns and other kinds of seafood are the ingredients making the soup sweet and tasty, but it is also hot enough to make you sweat. What a great combination!\r\nThen comes the 'Raw Garlic Shrimp' ($75).\r\n

\r\n"The price of this dish hasn't change in 10 years. Other restaurants sell 12 shrimps for $150, I sell 10 king prawns for $75. Many customers said they rather eat at my place!" said the owner.\r\n

\r\nWhen we first saw the shrimp, they reminded us of shrimp sashimi, and then we saw the large pieces of garlic. Just when we hoped that it wouldn't taste too disgusting, the owner demonstrated how to eat the shrimp: she first used a spoon to lift it up, and then add some 5-spiced hot and sour sauce on it. After that, she shoved it to us and we regrettably took it. To our surprise, the garlic taste wasn't strong at all, and it fully brought out the fresh taste of the shrimp. The hot and sour sauce gives an exciting flavour to the shrimp. Its texture is also very soft. Come and have a taste of it!
Another dish is the 'Curry Crab' (seasonal price) and the 'Thai Pepper with Garlic Clams' ($45).\r\n

\r\nTheir sauces are homemade. Although they are both curries, their taste are very different. The curry sauce in the 'Curry Crab' is made from yellow curry and different types of spices and has a very special flavour. The crab is large and fat and the sweet curry taste is well blended into the meat. Mmmmmmm, the seafood here are wonderful!\r\n\r\nThe curry sauce in 'Thai Pepper with Garlic Clams' is sweet and sour. The owner said that they make many different kinds o curry sauce, it is hard to say them all. This dish is made by stir-frying the large clams, garlic and pepper with the curry sauce. There are other recommended dishes that are worth a try.\r\n

\r\nThe dishes of Golden Wheat is not only delicious, they also have a friendly way of dealing with customers. Many of them said that they will only eat their dishes. \r\n

\r\n"Many customers are constant visitors since they were young. Many of them came back to visit me and taste the dishes." Said the owner.\r\nNow you know that Golden Wheat Thai Restaurant is a great place to dine in.
