Photos of their juicy burger was what arouse my initial attention to this Korean fusion gourmet fast food, but at 2pm, it was the chicken korrito that I was most impressed with. Juicy tender burger
At this place, if not korrito, then burger. So between the two of us, we ordered those. They didn’t ask me how I wanted my patty cooked and so I was a bit regretful when I realised 5 minutes after I ordered. Nevertheless, it was no disaster that the beef was cooked well done as the patty was not dry at all (as it often is when well done) – it was extremely delicious and juicy; quite flavourful too. The only tiny complaint is that the burger was a little too greasy for me (but we are eating burgers and fries, to be fair).

Packed with flavours and a lot of ingredients, I loved how this burrito had that spicy tasting rice and Korean flare to it. Now I’m no expert capable of listing out those ingredients (hey, the photo says a lot already), but funnily, purple sweet potato is among that list! Oh and they have a lunch deal where fries and a drink come with your order too (for HK$95 I think).

The sauce on the fried chicken was spot on! Though the batter on the chicken may be a little too overwhelming for some. Deep fried rice cakes is a funny thing too, but not the ideal way I like it cooked.

Easy, breezy (just a little greasy) casual meal
Find a seat on their high chairs, make your order at the counter and enjoy a juicy meal! I like this place for being fuss-free (it was not packed when I visited during lunch hours), friendly and value-for-money, especially for Central standards. The food is tasty and portions very reasonable – the bottom line is it’s an excellent place for a quick catch up and casual meal.

The Continental has taken over one of the best restaurant locations in Hong Kong atop Pacific Place or where Domani used to be. Here, British Chef Rowley Leigh introduces a European cafe-inspired British menu and some of the dishes here were just unforgettable - creativity mixed with generally great execution.Raw tuna with ginger dressing *must order*
The raw tuna was delicately thin, shining light on the tasty ginger dressing, making this dish much more interesting than the usual tuna carpaccio you see on other restaurant’s menu. “Ginger dressing” is really a humble understatement of what the sauce here really is. The flavours were really interesting and quite complex; the ginger taste was pleasantly not overriding.Parmesan custard with anchovy toast *must order*
The mention of “anchovies” on a menu is usually an instant turn off for me. But I had forgotten that these were in the toast on my first bite; the anchovy taste was very subtle, albeit detectable after two bites or so. It was more like sea salt seasoning rather than fishy flavour, which I liked very much. But the highlight of this combo has to be the parmesan custard. The texture of the custard is like a very smooth creme brulee (it even has that burnt layer on top) and it tasted mildly cheesy.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, this dish was served as a special for the tasting menu and is not on their usual a la carte menu.Griddled scallops with chestnut puree, shiso and lemon
Everyone at the table loved the scallops. They were definitely cooked just right to perfection. The execution was excellent, but the chestnut puree was un-special to me. Though I guess that’s partly because the scallop flavour is usually quite an attention seeker itself.Norweigian skrei cod with clam chowder
I love the taste of cod and this one was cooked very well – juicy and soft. However, it must have been the clam chowder that was a little overriding and made the dish a little salty and perhaps too flavourful for my liking.Rib eye steak (English, grass-fed) with chips and bearnaise sauce
Rib eye steak with fries is such a classic. But the big hidden twist here is that they use English grass-fed beef and you may be surprised at just how much of a twist it actually was. The taste of the English beef vastly contrasts the USDA ones we usually have. The meat is definitely leaner and the taste is intensely stronger, partly a result of the good quality of meat used too.
Plus, the fries and bearnaise sauce were super popular at the table; refills were ordered!Intriguingly delicious desserts
All the desserts we had that night were delicious and I loved how intriguing some of the options were. The weirdest of them all must have been the chilli pineapple - it’s probably not for everyone. It’s not as chilli or weird as it sounds though and was a surprisingly good combination with the french toast and vanilla ice cream. But I have to be boring and recommend the chocolate salted caramel tart, which was the still the most memorable dessert of the night for me!

Great dinner place for casual dates and small group gatherings
The atmosphere is vibrant (not too quiet) and perfect for casually romantic dates or small group gatherings. The menu is unique and I loved how they serve standard popular items (like the rib eye or chocolate tart) and also a variety of interesting options too (tuna, chilli pineapple).

Sheung Wan is always the best place to go for brunch or coffee in Hong Kong – it’s the only area with so much choice. Thankfully, the latest recommendation I’ve been hearing about is pretty good at both. I finally brought myself to this relatively convenient area (Cleverly street) where The Cupping Room is located. Though not the best brunch or best coffee I’ve had, they’re great at the combination of both.Cappuccino a tad too creamy for me
Recommended by a lot of Instagrammers and foodies for their coffee, I have been excited to get my weekend caffeine fix here for a while. No doubt my cappuccino looked pretty with the perfect latte art and the texture of the coffee was silky creamy, but I personally like my coffee tasting strong and this one was just a tad too creamy and milky for my loving. I’d say it’s a must-try if you are not a strong-coffee-lover though.Hong Kong western-style breakfast featuring delicious sourdough
The full brekky here seems clearly tuned for a Hong Kong audience – it’s a lot less oily and fatty than the traditional full English breakfast. Well for one, they use American streaky bacon, so it’s not English for sure (actually I heard the cafe is Australian). However, the portion is also smaller by comparison (notice the tiny sausages). The scrambled eggs were runny and nicely undercooked. But my favourite touch to my order was the sourdough toast. I usually abandon my toasts, but the sourdough was easily the first thing I cleared from this plate.Delicious creamy carbonara with onsen egg
The Hong Kong-western style comment is pretty relevant to the spaghetti carbonara too. I suppose because the sauce was not as thick and eggy as the traditional sauce; it was more creamy and runny – easier on the stomach. The Cupping Room is nicely located in Sheung Wan. Unlike the other tiny hipster coffee shops, it’s not too far from the MTR station. It’s located on a side street (Cleverly street), so the environment outside is pretty chilled and pleasant. Their menu is short and sweet – the omelette sandwich and smoked salmon toast also featured the much-loved sourdough toast and looked pretty delicious from my spying on other customers. Their coffee is pretty good – I’m sure many would love it, but it won’t be those who like their coffees strong.

Located up the hill from Hollywood Road in the trendy area of Sheung Wan, the surroundings of hipster tea cafe Teakha is quite relaxed. It’s too bad that Hong Kong rents are so high that these places can’t afford to be spacious and have a comfortable interior at the same time! There are only limited and tiny seats available. But the food offerings here are legit, worth the trek and perhaps worth the uncomfortable seating too!Authentic low sugar Thai milk tea (HK$38)

I’ve had lots of trouble finding authentic Thai milk tea outside of Bangkok but this one is spot on the real deal. In fact it tastes even better than many of the ones I tried during my trips to Thailand. One thing I love about it is that they make it not very sweet by default! Just gotta live with the fact that it’s kind of overpriced.Best green tea cheesecake in Hong Kong (HK$42)

I love all things matcha and green tea! This must be the best green tea cheesecake I’ve had to date – the texture is quite smooth and soft, while the crust retains a crunch. There’s a good balance between cheese and matcha taste, though I’d personally prefer an even more over powering matcha taste!

Carrying a celebrity name like Jamie Oliver definitely sets the expectations bar as high as it could be, making it likely that people would say "I had high expectations but was disappointed". I think it's best to go expecting casual Italian food (that's what it is). 

Lucky 15 min wait on Saturday 8pm for five
Luckily we got a table within 15 mins because we waited by the counter for no-shows.Apart from the crab and avocado bruschetta, all the starter were pretty good - great for sharing. We also ordered risotto balls and the simple green salad. Nothing amazing about the risotto balls, though they did have a nice spicy kick to it. The salad leaves (though normal) were very fresh.Tasty though unmemorable pastas
I did have higher expectations for pastas here but the two I ordered – Truffle tagliatelle and Our famous tiger prawn linguine were not extraordinary – which is what I hoped they would be. They use homemade pasta here which I usually hate; but somehow they did a great job in keeping the pasta very al dente! The sauces were generally delicious, my main complaint would be that they are slightly common (which is not such a bad thing to be fair).Lamb lollipops with polenta chips
We love our meat medium rare and hate it when restaurants over cook! The lamb chops were cooked perfectly here and meat quality was good and fatty. I’d say it was a bit more rare than medium rare usually is - so make sure you emphasise well done if you don’t like raw meat.
The condiments were the key to this dish. The lamb was served with delicious herby red onion, yogurt and polenta chips (pictured below), which made it so you can’t say “they’re just lamb chops”!Fish in a bag 
The fish in a bag doesn’t look very good but was definitely my favourite main dish of the night. The fish had definitely been cooked at a perfect temperature – the texture was moist and soft. It’s served between a bed of cracked wheat (which tastes kind of like rice) and a layer of fiery arrabbiata sauce. There were were also cockles, mussels and other herby things in the wrapped foil, sauna-ed the whole package with strong flavours. Highly recommended by me!Lemon meringue pie 
Comments on Instagram mentioned that desserts were generally better than the mains here. I definitely wanted to wipe the plate clean of the lemon meringue pie – the crunch and orange zest definitely added a thin layer of sophistication to the dessert. I’d definitely come back for this!Great service, some great dishes and reasonably priced – give it a go if you’re lucky to avoid a long wait!
If you call, they’re probably fully booked. If you walk-in, they’ll tell you to come back later (at 8:30/8:45/9:30 that kinda thing). If you’re happy to come back “later”, they put your name down and you’ll probably get your seat at that time. For us, we thought there are bound to be groups of people leaving their names down but ditching! It was 8:00 and we hoped there’d be no-shows and luckily got our table for five at 8:15!

I had heard bad things about logistics and service, but the above arrangement was not a disaster at all. Our server was polite, attentive and let’s just say we were willing to tip well. The menu and food is not exquisite or fine – it’s pretty casual but there are some really delicious dishes – croquettes, lamb lollipops, fish in a bag and lemon meringue pie - that are worth coming for.

The union of Korean and Italian food sounded strange to me. The results are intriguingly not that strange though, definitely a credit to the successfully unique ideas this kitchen is cooking!

Kimchi pancakes is usually my must order item at any Korean restaurant! This one was mixed with pork as well. The dish was unusually not my favourite of the night – the taste was quite normal and less fusion-y than the other dishes. All in all, still delicious (though be wary of my Kimchi pancake bias) but I thought it could be made crisper!

I tried a similar dish at School Food (a popular restaurant chain from Korea) and was… Pretty appalled and put off. The menu at Moyo was not sooo extensive, so given the high load my stomach requires, I gave this one a shot! Here, the carbonara sauce was thick and strong, which goes very well with the also-thick rice cakes! Definitely would recommend this dish for the carbonara lovers.

They only had two desserts on the menu and we managed to stomach them both – well the portions are not huge. I love tiramisu and green tea, so this combo would naturally be my favourite. It was super creamy and smooth, while the green tea and red bean flavours went well together, of course.

This was super unique and delicious too! You wouldn’t have guessed that those were tofu cubes – they were deep fried and coated with cinnamon (and I think sugar?), which made them taste very much like churros! This went well with the ice cream and could also have been my favourite dessert of the night (can’t really decide… order both)!

I heard about the crazy waiting time here on Facebook a few months back, but I walked in on a week night at about 7pm and chose the bar table over the sharing table, though both looked equally uncomfortable. So let’s just base this review on tastes alone and readers be reminded to make a reservation to enjoy your meal at a proper table!

Steak tartares in Hong Kong always disappoint. Most of them turn out to be very chewily raw or they just don’t put the right seasoning on it. This must have been the first delicious good quality one I’ve had since I moved back to Hong Kong from London. Both the texture and taste was great and it definitely reminded me of the ones I had back in London – maybe even better!
Flavourfully pattied short rib burger The short rib burger definitely had the best patty I’ve had in a burger in Hong Kong – both in terms of quality and execution. The beefy flavour was very sufficiently strong, while meat was juicy and succulent. I always ask for medium rare but sometimes the results are a raw centre. The inside of the patty was quite thoroughly pink, though no part of it had a “raw” taste.
The rest of the burger was pretty amazing too (the sriracha mayo) though the bun was not exciting at all. 
Good quality food in general but limited menu choices
I enjoyed the dishes I ordered and each seem to have fresh quality with some element of surprise. Most notably, the tasty beef in the short rib burger was really distinct and memorable, while dishes were generally prepared (executed) very well.
One complaint would be the overall menu – which doesn’t strike me to be so interesting. It wasn’t one of those that leave you with three dilemmas of which starter, main and dessert to order. I actually didn’t try any desserts that day. That was party because the choices didn’t really entice me to grow that second stomach at the end of my main course.

Decided to try this place on Friday as it was featured on sassy Hong Kong. We booked a place for 8pm and the restaurant was surprisingly empty (I think you could get away without booking).

The service was Ok except the guy kept hovering over us and asking whether we were done with our dishes every 10 mins (we weren't).

The food was extremely average. It's not that bad but nothing special at all. We spent about $180 each but I wasn't full at all... And I wasn't appealed by anything else on the menu.

I wouldn't particularly recommend this place but the environment is definitely nice ^ the prawns tasted quite good but it's a really normal dish I feel like I can have anywhere. The other dish is supposed to be slow cooked egg with iberica ham and potatoes but I was a bit disappointed with how little ham there was.
